Hope That Doesn't Disappoint

Shoots of New Growth

This hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:5

IMG_1583.jpg.irisheartofhopeWe don’t have to leave our home these days for the world’s bad news to come crashing down upon us. Too much information . . . both good and bad . . . crowds our souls as we search the internet, scan the news and browse Facebook. Sometimes we just need to stop . . . pull back . . . and take a break from the world.

The best way I know of getting away from it all is to get up early and watch a new day dawn. Now with the changing of seasons, I love to take a walk and embrace the beauty of springtime.  Signs of new growth surround me and soon I’m down on my knees digging in the soil . . . pulling weeds . . . transplanting old plants . . . adding new ones.

In the same way,  Spring can ring eternal in our hearts when we take time to walk through the Word of God and embrace the promises found there. The eternal truths written down for us never lose their power to renew and refresh our minds. Give comfort when we grieve a loss…and cause new hope to arise in our hearts during times of stormy trials and winds of adversity.

There’s a hope rooted
down deep . . .
Deep in the soil of God’s love.
Winds of adversity
tests it . . .
Stormy trials try

to possess it . . .
But hope is rooted,
rooted down deep
in the soil of
God’s love.

There’s a hope springing up
with shoots of

new growth.
Nothing can stop it—
Evil can’t thwart it.
Hope always
thrusts through

hardened soil,
softened by Spring’s rain.
Eternal hope . . .

Everlasting love.

Anchor of my soul,
birthed and
born again. (John 3:3-17)

Eternal Seed implanted . . .
catch the wind of the Spirit.
New life . . .
spring forth.

Awaken winter’s dead.
Heavenly showers fall—
rain flowers
upon my soul.

Dove of His Presence

Dove of His presence,
You have graced and embraced me…
Poured the balm of Gilead
on open wounds…
Taken the sweetness
of the
cross of Jesus…
and dipped me
in living waters
of sweet contentment and joy.

No circumstance…
no matter how hard
or bitter…
need stop the
sweetness of God’s presence
in our lives.
We only need to bow
and release
the tangled strings
of our heart to Jesus.

Then we listen for the song He puts right there…
Right there in the center of our being.

Meditations from Exodus 15:24-26; Jeremiah 8:22; John 7:38; Revelation 7:17

Passing Through

100_2949.jpg.passingthrough

Have you ever felt like giving up?
I have.

I recall a time long past when I was
so weary I would have given up on
life itself, had not the Spirit of God
impressed this question on my heart.

Are you willing to hupomeno?

Hupomeno. If it sounds like greek to you, you are right. Its the greek word I had just learned
in my Bible study class. The commentary said, it means to bear up under the load, for the pur-
pose of Christ-like-ness.

There it was. The purpose of the trial. God’s eternal perspective, knowing that He is even right
now causing all things to work together for good for those called according to His purpose. The
purpose of being conformed to the image of Christ. In short, that I become more like Jesus.

That’s what I wanted, more than anything. I wanted to respond to my present trial in the same
way He would.

I prayed a simple prayer and said yes. I would be willing to remain under the trial a little longer,
trusting God’s purpose of forever changing me. The release of the heavy load I had been carrying,
was instant. Replaced with a peace beyond my understanding.

Now some twenty plus years later I look back and stand in awe of the One who makes all things
new. The trial was temporary, for a set time with an eternal purpose to produce endurance in me.

When the winds of stormy circumstances tempt you to lose heart, call out to Jesus. He’s waiting to
hear your heart’s cry. He’ll take you to the other side of the storm.

We’re Passing through
the storm,
Be-loved of God.
Jesus is on board our battered ship
and He’s speaking peace
to stormy winds and troubled hearts.

We’re pressing through
the storm,
Child of God.
Our Captain and Navigator
controls the winds of change
and has a sure destination in mind.

We’re praying through
the storm—
Bride of Christ.
He sees and knows
when teardrops fall—
And He’s praying us
through to the
other side of the storm.

Love’s Sweet Song

I’d rather walk

in the valley with Jesus

than on the mountain-top

without Him.

He gives a song

through long days and nights.

He sings loudly—

knitting hearts together

with sweet chords of love. View the pictures →

#God Proved His Love For You

100_4521.jpgcross2

Made right with God by faith in Jesus—

Peace with God through the blood of His son,

A place to stand in undeserved privilege,

Waiting for the glory of His second return.
