Hope That Doesn't Disappoint

When Tears Must Fall

Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning on her beloved? Song of Songs 8:5

My peace I give
 in the winding wilderness,
where heart and
mind are overwhelmed.
Worry not nor fret,
my daughter.
Lean hard on Me and
trust and rest.

My love I give
 in the valley of trials,
where tears
must fall along the way.
Offer me your tears,
My daughter.
Lean hard on Me and
trust and rest.

Stop Doubting and Believe

th
I’ve always appreciated the honesty
of Thomas. It mattered not when he
heard the reports of others who had
seen Jesus face to face the morning
he rose from the grave. This doubting
disciple wanted hard proof. He declared
he would not believe unless he could
see the nail prints in Jesus hand.

Jesus knew the heart of Thomas. And He knows ours.

Is it not true some of us are tempted to doubt God’s promises when things don’t turn out the way we had expected?

Sometimes our  minds and emotions tempt us to beg God for proof before we will believe. That’s when we need to remember to renew our minds by reading the good news the Bible speaks of.

So with that said, the following is my declaration of belief in the One who loved me enough to die on Calvary’s cruel cross in my place that I might have eternal life.
(John 3:16)

The stripping, beating, and cursing.
The casting of lots for his robe.
The crowning of thorns
on Golgotha’s hill.
The cross
and the nails.
The perfect sacrificial
Lamb of God,
Savior and Redeemer,
the body and blood of Jesus—
wounded and bleeding,
broken and spilled out,
dying for you and for me.

The prayer,
“Father forgive them, they
know not what they do”.
The loud voice,
“It is finished.
Into your hands
I commit my spirit.”
The veil, torn into
from top to bottom.
The open door
to the Holy of Holies
inviting whosoever
will may come.
The third day
angels rolled away
the stone and
Jesus rose from
the grave.

He Arose!

The empty tomb,
his appearing to
the women,
Peter and other disciples.
Then Jesus said to Thomas,

Shoots of New Growth

This hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:5

IMG_1583.jpg.irisheartofhopeWe don’t have to leave our home these days for the world’s bad news to come crashing down upon us. Too much information . . . both good and bad . . . crowds our souls as we search the internet, scan the news and browse Facebook. Sometimes we just need to stop . . . pull back . . . and take a break from the world.

The best way I know of getting away from it all is to get up early and watch a new day dawn. Now with the changing of seasons, I love to take a walk and embrace the beauty of springtime.  Signs of new growth surround me and soon I’m down on my knees digging in the soil . . . pulling weeds . . . transplanting old plants . . . adding new ones.

In the same way,  Spring can ring eternal in our hearts when we take time to walk through the Word of God and embrace the promises found there. The eternal truths written down for us never lose their power to renew and refresh our minds. Give comfort when we grieve a loss…and cause new hope to arise in our hearts during times of stormy trials and winds of adversity.

There’s a hope rooted
down deep . . .
Deep in the soil of God’s love.
Winds of adversity
tests it . . .
Stormy trials try

to possess it . . .
But hope is rooted,
rooted down deep
in the soil of
God’s love.

There’s a hope springing up
with shoots of

new growth.
Nothing can stop it—
Evil can’t thwart it.
Hope always
thrusts through

hardened soil,
softened by Spring’s rain.
Eternal hope . . .

Everlasting love.

Anchor of my soul,
birthed and
born again. (John 3:3-17)

Eternal Seed implanted . . .
catch the wind of the Spirit.
New life . . .
spring forth.

Awaken winter’s dead.
Heavenly showers fall—
rain flowers
upon my soul.

Believing to See

I will not lose heart though clouds threaten

To hide His face.

My Redeemer is strong,

Full of saving grace.

I will not lose hope if doubts rush in

And fear assails.

My Redeemer is strong,

Anchors, holds, prevails.

I will not despair when human love

Rejects, forsakes.

My Redeemer leaves not,

Accepts for Love’s sake.

One day heaven’s curtain will open and I will see Him face to face.

Til then I wait…

Believing to see His goodness,

Strengthened by His Faith,

Anchored in His Hope,

Embraced by His Love.

Dove In The Cleft of the Rock

Dove

The Bride of Christ is God’s Dove—
Sheltered in the Safety of the Cleft of the Rock.

He sings over her,
Invites her to look up
and sing along—
Then picks up
a sweet tune,
putting a smile on her face
and joy in her heart.

It may be a secret place,
yet it’s known to Him.
It may be a steep place—
but directed by Him.
It may be a deep valley,
but He promised
never to leave your side.

Sometimes our Lord
calls us from
clamorous voices that
vie for our attention—
Only then do
we hear
His voice alone.
