Hope That Doesn't Disappoint

Stop Doubting and Believe

th
I’ve always appreciated the honesty
of Thomas. It mattered not when he
heard the reports of others who had
seen Jesus face to face the morning
he rose from the grave. This doubting
disciple wanted hard proof. He declared
he would not believe unless he could
see the nail prints in Jesus hand.

Jesus knew the heart of Thomas. And He knows ours.

Is it not true some of us are tempted to doubt God’s promises when things don’t turn out the way we had expected?

Sometimes our  minds and emotions tempt us to beg God for proof before we will believe. That’s when we need to remember to renew our minds by reading the good news the Bible speaks of.

So with that said, the following is my declaration of belief in the One who loved me enough to die on Calvary’s cruel cross in my place that I might have eternal life.
(John 3:16)

The stripping, beating, and cursing.
The casting of lots for his robe.
The crowning of thorns
on Golgotha’s hill.
The cross
and the nails.
The perfect sacrificial
Lamb of God,
Savior and Redeemer,
the body and blood of Jesus—
wounded and bleeding,
broken and spilled out,
dying for you and for me.

The prayer,
“Father forgive them, they
know not what they do”.
The loud voice,
“It is finished.
Into your hands
I commit my spirit.”
The veil, torn into
from top to bottom.
The open door
to the Holy of Holies
inviting whosoever
will may come.
The third day
angels rolled away
the stone and
Jesus rose from
the grave.

He Arose!

The empty tomb,
his appearing to
the women,
Peter and other disciples.
Then Jesus said to Thomas,

Believing to See

I will not lose heart if clouds
threaten t
o hide His face.
My Redeemer is strong,
full of saving grace.

I will not lose hope if doubts
rush in a
nd fear assails.
My Redeemer is strong,
anchors, holds, prevails.

I will not despair if others’ love
fails or forsakes.
My Redeemer leaves not,
Remains for Love’s sake.

The Valley of Trials

One day heaven’s curtain will open
and I will see His face.
Til then I will wait,
strengthened by His grace.

Reflections from Psalm 27: 13, 14; 1 Corinthians 13

Feeling Incomplete?

IMG_0057

I wonder what happened? A
missing petal caused the lily to
appear incomplete. I feel that
way sometimes, when I’m caught
off guard and respond in ways
that  are or unkind to those
around me. Then perfection
raises its ugly head and accuses:

“You’re still flawed, incomplete, imperfect!”

Disappointment grips my heart and I cry out…“How long O Lord, how long?”

Then I hear the still small voice within; “As long as it takes.”
And my heart is encouraged.

How about you? Ever get discouraged or impatient when your reactions fail to
reflect the love of God? If so, isn’t it good to remember the promises from God’s Word.

The truth is, every follower of Jesus is a work in progress, and we need to trust Him
to do the changing while we do the trusting. The Bible encourages us to let our roots
grow down deep in the soil of God’s love and embrace this promise.

Faithful to complete it.

I am certain that God, who began the good work
within you, will continue His work until it is finally
finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
Philippians 1:6 NLT

Dove of His Presence

Attachment-1

Dove of His presence,
You have graced and embraced me…
Poured the balm of Gilead
on open wounds…
Taken the sweetness
of the
cross of Jesus…
and dipped me
in living waters
of sweet contentment and joy.

No circumstance…
no matter how hard
or bitter…
need stop the
sweetness of God’s presence
in our lives.
We only need to bow
and release
the tangled strings
of our heart to Jesus.

Then we listen for the song He puts right there…
Right there in the center of our being.

Meditations from Exodus 15:24-26; Jeremiah 8:22; John 7:38; Revelation 7:17

You’re Not Alone

100_2057,jpg.walkwithme

Lay to rest ghosts’ lying shadows,

Put them away where they belong.

Embrace Truth of timeless ages,

God is Love and on His Throne.

Lay to rest life’s dis-appointments,

Put them away where they belong.

Embrace Love’s Divine appointments,

Walk with Me, you’re not alone.
