Hope That Doesn't Disappoint

When Conflict Comes

The story is told about a father and his young son running out of gas one night on a lonely dark road. Their only option was to get out of the car and walk until they found a gas station some miles away.

“Daddy, it’s dark and I can’t see you. Can I hold your hand until we find the light?”

I think that’s how we feel sometimes when we encounter strange trials. The way up ahead seems dark and we realize there is no way we can find light again, unless we keep holding on to our Father’s hand.

Have you been there?

I have. The truth is I don’t remember
the exact trial I was going through
at the time. I just remember choosing
to hold onto God’s hand…
knowing He knows the way out of
the darkness of conflict.

The following prayer/poem was given to me during that season. I feel led to share it this morning, in hope that someone will be encouraged to grab hold to our Father’s hand and trust Him to comfort, strengthen and give needed direction.

Peace Borne of Conflict

There’s a peace borne out of conflict, not of sweet repose.
The peace our Father sends
upon the One He knows.

Breathe upon our hearts, sweet Holy Peace of God.
Release the fragrance of the rose
upon the path we trod.

Pour forth Your Holy Spirit, the fruit of peace divine;
The peace borne out of conflict
upon this heart of mine.

In times of stormy conflict, through restless nights and days,
Blow gently upon this rose,
the sacrifice of praise.

If I say, “surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night”.
Even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is as bright as the day,
for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 139: 11,12

Peace in Conflict

There’s a peace borne out of conflict,

not of sweet respose.

The peace the Father sends

upon the one He knows.

Breathe upon our hearts

sweet Holy peace of God.

Release the fragrance

of the rose

upon the path we trod.

In times of stormy conflict,

through restless nights and days,

blow gently upon this rose

the sacrifice of praise.

I’ve shared this poem several times before, but felt led to post again. If you are experiencing heartache or conflict and need help to face the day, this is my prayer for you.

Dear heavenly Father, I pray You will breathe fresh peace upon the one whose heart seeks to know You. Whatever the confict, I pray Your living presence will strengthen and encourage, give help and hope today and the days to come. In the name of Jesus, Sweet Rose of Sharon, I pray. Amen.
