Hope That Doesn't Disappoint

Award: The Versatile Blogger!

I feel so honored!! I just received the Versatile Blogger Award (VBA) from author and blogger, Holly Michael!

According to my sponsor, Holly Michael, this is what VBA is all about:

Versatile Blogger Award (VBA)

What is it?

As far as I can tell — details are rather sketchy and only the creator knows for sure — this lofty-sounding award is basically a mutual admiration society where bloggers recognize their peers for writing quality blogs that touched them in some way. The VBAs honor the blogger rather than specific posts. It’s a chance for bloggers to pat themselves on the back like the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences does with the Oscars. Until someone starts giving out Blogscars, the VBAs will have to suffice.

What are the criteria?

If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger Award. I nominated 15 outstanding bloggers below. Congratulations!

Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.

Thank you, Holly ! I feel truly honored and blessed!

Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.

Here is the link to Holly’s post: –

Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. (I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)

The envelope, please…

Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.

And the nominees/winners are (in no particular order):

Amy Nedrow – Dreams and Other Things

Verna Bowman –

Holly Michael – Writing Straight

Celeste Vaughan –

Diana Leagh Matthews – Where The Winds Blow

Jeanette Edgar Raising Surrendered Hearts

Jessie Seneca More of Him Ministries

Liz Cowen Furman

Marcia Gaddis The Olive Branch

Adriana Vermillion Optimal Thinker

Jeanne Doyne The Stream’s Edge

Nan Jones Morning Glory

Laura Hodges A Word of Encouragement

Jamie Britt Encouraging Women

Carolyn Ruch – Tamar’s Redemption

Andrea Bowling Purdue – http://www. / Arise 2Write

Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

  1. I was born and raised into a large family (second daughter of seven children) in the small town of Bay Minette, Alabama.
  2. I was a teenager during the 1960’s—loved watching American Band Stand every Saturday on our black and white television.
  3. My life and roots changed drastically in my early twenties, when I met and fell in love with a young naval officer named Dave. Having lived in many different parts of the country and traveling half way around the world—we now live on top of a mountain near Morgantown in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia!
  4. I am blessed to be mother of two and grandmother of seven thus far. Spending time with my grand-children is one of the greatest joys of my life!
  5. I love Southern Gospel Music—with a sprinkling of Blue Grass, Christian Contemporary, and Classical. Andrew Bocelli is my absolute favorite singer!
  6. I write to encourage and give hope to others through devotionals, poetry, and prose—and love to use photography with the blogs I post weekly.
  7. I love getting up early to watch the sun rise over several mountain ranges. The view from my back yard is spectacular—a little foretaste of heaven!

    Congratulations nominees/winners!

    Have a blessed day!

  2. Thank you so much Glenda for the nomination! I stand before the mic stunned with no speech prepared… 🙂 Also thinking I should be wearing some designer gown, but that’s ok, it’s all about the heart with our blogs, and my heart feels full…my cup runneth over… I’m blessed that God made us friends!

    • Well, I feel the same way Amy…You were at the top of my list rightly so because you are the one who helped me get started with blogging!
We have to get together soon and celebrate the mutual gifts God has given us..
Giving Him all the praise and all the Glory!

    • Diana,
Anytime someone nominates you, you are automatically a winner!
You will want to send a letter out similar to mine. I used Holly M. letter as an example. Have fun with it and don’t forget to name 15 bloggers for the award.
      God bless!

  4. Way to go Glenda! Woo Hoo!
    You amaze me! Liz

  5. Congratulations, Glenda! What an awesome award, and so much fun to read and share in your accomplishment! And so special that the award does not stop with you; you get to pass it on, and on and on!

    • Thank you Laura…I give God praise for this honor. You are right…the best part of this is being able to pass this along…kinda like a baton of encouragement…which you have always been to me, dear friend. God bless you!

  6. Awesome Glenda…and thanks for choosing my blog! I actually just got back from Blue Ridge where I won Second Place in the blog contest! So exciting…. 🙂 Be blessed!

  7. I’m glad I checked out your blog. I found out what to do when someone nominates you for an award. I’m new at this and don’t know all the rules. I was nominated and I thanked the person who nominated me. I thought I had to wait to see which one of the nominees won so I didn’t do the link or tell things about myself. The next time someone nominates me I’ll know. Thanks for stopping by and partaking in Life’s Little Surprises. Until next time…

  8. I’m fairly new with the blog awards also. It takes an effort, but so worth time spent in order to meet new friends. Look forward to reading your blogs. God bless!
