Jehoshaphat knew where to turn when the threatening letter came against his household. He could not fight his enemies alone. He called God’s people together for prayer—and God’s answer came with power and clarity!
“Stand still and see the salvation of the LORD.”
This was God’s battle! His people prayed and then put feet to their prayer. They faced their enemy with bold faith and songs of deliverance preceded the victory God gave that day.
The place was called Barakah, The Valley of Blessing!
When all kinds of difficulties come your way, learn the lesson from Jehoshaphat.
Call out to God and then ask others to pray with you. We are the Body of Christ. The community of Faith. There is power in prayer, both in our private prayer closet and in prayer with others.
I will never leave you, nor forsake.
In my hand is a sword, and for you my child, I undertake.
You need not fight in this battle!
Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
Those who hope in Me will not be disappointed.
You will see the goodness of the Lord.
Station yourself in this battle!
Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
Though trials linger and hell seems bent to destroy,
Know there will be a day, a time of favor.
Station yourself in this battle!
Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
“You need not fight this battle. Stand firm; see the deliverance the
LORD will give you. (11 Chronicles 20:17a NIV).
- 11 Chronicles 20 gives the full story of God’s deliverance for His people
This is excellent, Glenda. I have been in the valley you mention, and, only by the grace of God, and strong prayer warriors, did I get to the mountaintop. Prayer is such a powerful weapon. Thank you for this encouragement to not isolate ourselves, when we are in trials, but to go to the Lord in prayer. What a gift!

Laura, I believe we both came out of the valley, leaning on our Beloved! Our Father is so gracious. So glad he made us part of the same family! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, Glenda! Wonderful tips! I know I’m there many times where I just don’t know what to say. Sometimes the only way I can pray is to sing. Thank you so much for sharing.

Diana,
Someone said when we sing our prayers, its like praying twice. I believe God is giving the victory when we sing, just as he did Jehos. and the children of Israel. Keep singing my friend. I’m right there with you!

Thank you for reminding me of this strong portion of scripture – got me through many a battle as I stood by and watched the salvation of the Lord! Beautiful pictures to remind me also the battle ground can be a sweet pasture to lie down in when God takes over. Thank you, Glenda . . . .

Yes, so glad when God takes over…he does make us lie down and get some R & R before the next battle. Praising God for His victory in Christ Jesus. The best is yet to come.
