Hope That Doesn't Disappoint

Back to the Beginning

Ever been hooked by a good book?  You know…the first few words so grabbed your attention you couldn’t put it down?

Some look to the New Year as a time to get hooked or unhooked on new or old habits.  Many of us set our goals, make our vows and resolutions only to find that we still struggle to keep them.

Though I don`t make resolutions, there is one thing I desire to do this year.  I want to stay hooked on a good book.

I love the book we call the Book of Books; as do millions of believers around the world.  The Bible, once written on tablets of stone, can now be written on tablets of the human heart; not with ink, but with the Spirit of the Living God.  A love letter designed to capture our hearts and turn us back to our Creator and our God.

The Bible begins with Genesis, the Book of Beginnings.  The rich repetition of words and phrases of the first chapter draws the reader into the details of God’s creation of the heavens and the earth.

And God said, and it was so.
And God said, and it was so.
And God said let there be, and it was done.
And God said let there be, and it was done.
And God saw that it was good.
And God saw that it was good.

When God made man and woman in His own image, the Bible says:  Then God saw that it was very good.  (Genesis 1).

Between the beginning and end of the Book, you will find everything you need to know about God and His relationship with man down through the ages and in the ages to come.

Those of us who love this book don’t want to miss one single word of this love letter that inspires, teaches, warns, reproves, corrects, and trains.

Within these Holy pages of the Holy Word of God, you will find the Love that seeks and saves those whose lives have been broken.  The Truth that will set you free.  A peace that passes all understanding. A hope and a future that is beyond this world.

If you need purpose and direction for your life, you will find the answers here.  When you are depressed or discouraged, this book will fill your heart and mind with encouragement and hope.

When you are distracted and lose focus, this book will help you refocus, showing you how to start again.

When memories of past failures and defeat hound you, this Book will remind you that failure is not final with the LORD.  God forgives and forget our sins when we look to Him in repentance.

Should we not receive His forgiveness and forget them also?

The Book ends with Revelation, the eye-opening message to the church about the final events of world history and the second coming of Jesus Christ.

I’ve read the end of the book and know the best is yet to come. Have you read it yet?   Are you hooked on the book?  Hooked for Eternity?  If not, you can be!

Read the Book!

So will My Word be which goes forth from my mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.  (Isaiah 55: 11).

There are many good guidelines available for reading through the bible in a year.  I’ve tried several, but my favorite is found in Secrets of the Secret Place –Bob Sorge.  publisher -Oasis House.  If you would like the guidelines, I will be happy to share it with you.  Just leave a comment below.

Grace, Love, and Peace to you,
